Ring Materials
Our Materials
Every ring at WoodTungstenRings.com is built on a foundation of tungsten carbide, paired with genuine natural materials that make each piece one of a kind. Here's a closer look at what goes into our rings, and why we chose each material.
Tungsten Carbide (The Core)
Every ring begins with a tungsten carbide band, one of the hardest metals used in fine jewelry today. Tungsten carbide resists scratching, warping, and everyday wear far better than traditional gold, silver, or platinum, making it an ideal choice for a ring meant to be worn daily. Its weight and durability give each ring a substantial, high-quality feel that holds up for years.
Hawaiian Koa Wood
Koa wood is native to Hawaii and prized for its rich, varied grain, ranging from warm gold to deep coffee brown. In Hawaiian culture, koa has long symbolized strength and courage. No two pieces of koa are identical, so every koa inlay ring carries a completely unique grain pattern.
Whiskey Barrel Oak
Reclaimed from oak barrels once used to age whiskey, this wood carries a rich, charred character shaped by years of use. Each piece reflects the barrel's history, giving the wood a warm, smoky tone and a story behind every ring.
Zebrawood
Known for its bold, striped grain pattern, zebrawood ranges from pale gold to deep brown stripes. Native to West Africa, it offers a striking, high-contrast look that stands apart from more uniform wood types.
Deer Antler
Genuine deer antler brings a naturally rugged, organic texture to our rings. Each piece is shaped entirely by nature, meaning no two antler inlays are ever quite the same. It's a popular choice for those drawn to outdoor, rustic design elements.
Meteorite
Our meteorite inlays are crafted from genuine meteorite material, offering a texture and pattern unlike anything else on Earth, literally. Meteorite has captured fascination for centuries, and each inlay carries a distinct, natural pattern shaped by its origins in space.
Abalone Shell
Abalone shell is known for its iridescent, color-shifting surface, reflecting different shades of blue, green, and purple depending on the light. It adds a natural shimmer to a ring, evoking the colors of the ocean.
Opal
Natural opal is prized for its unique play of color, shifting and shimmering as light hits it from different angles. Each opal inlay is one of a kind, offering a soft, radiant glow unlike any other stone.
Turquoise
Turquoise has been valued for centuries as a stone of protection and connection. Its vivid blue-green color makes it a popular choice for adding a bold pop of color to a wood or tungsten ring.
Lapis Lazuli
Known for its deep, rich blue color, lapis lazuli has long been associated with wisdom and truth. Crushed lapis inlays bring an intense, saturated blue tone to a ring's design.
Moss Agate
Moss agate features delicate, plant-like inclusions that make each stone entirely unique, resembling tiny patches of moss captured within the crystal. It's a favorite for those drawn to organic, nature-inspired designs.
Guitar String Inlay
For a personal, musical detail, some of our rings feature genuine guitar string inlaid into the band. It's a distinctive touch for musicians or anyone who wants a ring that reflects a passion for music.
How We Combine Materials
Many of our rings pair two or more materials together, wood with stone, wood with antler, or wood with meteorite, to create combinations that highlight natural contrast and texture. Every inlay is carefully sealed to protect against daily wear, moisture, and scratching, so the natural beauty of each material stays vibrant for years to come.
